Dear Mommy self,
Please learn to let go. You have been yelling for the 10th time and the kids just want to play while eating breakfast. The house is a mess and all you want to do is to make it look like a picture in a magazine. There are mountains of laundry waiting and it drives you crazy that you cannot conquer it. You have been planning and writing but it seems like there is no time.
You always love control and making sure your to do list is done for the day. But now it is different and everyday is a struggle. The weight is pulling you down and many times it’s a fight you could never win.
But please don’t feel like a loser. Your kids’ energy seems to be endless but the time that they want to kiss and hug you has an end. Look at the future and you will realize that you can never go back to today. So, let go.
It is okay that your chores wait and you sit down with your kids to play. It is totally okay to let your kids pull the laundry from the dryer and let them push all the buttons to see what each one does. It is fine to lay down and read a bedtime story and sleep with them in your arms.
There is no such thing as perfect. Being a mom really means to hug the imperfections and give your very best. Still, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Have that “me” time to give yourself energy. As they always say, you cannot give what you don’t have. So, sleep as much as you can. Get your body moving. Read a book to fill your mind with positivity. Pray, for inner strength. Fill up your heart with courage and love. Face the day head on. Then, just let go.
